Though Anonymous‘ story is very droll, we have no clue who s/he is. Publishing anonymously is less common now than it was in days of yore. But in general, it was often used for the fear of scorn by one’s colleagues, because some women believed publishing would be seen as unladylike, or because the author was the editor, or on the staff of the magazine or newspaper and wanted to conceal that fact.
