Gilbert Holiday (1879–1937) was born in London, England on January 29, 1879. In addition to his illustration work found here, Holiday was known for his paintings and illustrations of horses and horse-related sporting events. During World War I, he worked as an artist and an artillery gunner in the Royal Field Artillery on the Western Front.
As the result of a riding accident in 1932, he became paralyzed and was confined to a wheelchair. He died on January 8, 1937 in Molesey, Surrey, England.
