Henri Georges Lanos (1859–1929) was born August 19, 1859 in Paris, France. He studied with the architect Amédée Hédin and the painter and engraver Guillaume Cabasson. Beginning in the mid-1880s, he began working as an illustrator for many French-language magazines and books, including works by H.G. Wells. On January 6, 1929, he died in Paris.
