Harry Rountree (1878–1950) was born on January 26, 1878 in Auckland, New Zealand to Stephen Gilbert Rountree and Julia Bartley. He moved to London, England at the age of 23 in order to pursue an illustration career. His works were published in many different magazines at the turn of the 20th Century, including The Strand Magazine, The Sketch, Pearson’s Magazine, Punch, The King, and others.
He died of cancer on September 26, 1950 in St. Ives, Cornwall, England.
