Henrique Alvim Corrêa (1876–1910) was born in Rio de Janiero, Brazil on January 30, 1876. He moved to Europe in 1892 just after Brazil declared its independence from Portugal. While he produced many other illustrations in his short life, he is best known today for those from a limited edition French translation of The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells.
He sadly passed away at the young age of 34 on June 7, 1910 in Brussels. His body was later buried in his city of birth.
