Johan Briedé (1885–1980) was born in Rotterdam, Kingdom of the Netherlands, on May 2, 1885, son of Marinus Stephanus Briedé (a public school teacher) and Willemina Johanna van Oosten (a craft teacher). For most of his life, he worked as a graphic designer and illustrator, working on numerous books, posters, brochures, and other works.
He died on April 5, 1980, at the age of 94, in Amsterdam.
